Well, I called to schedule an appointment with Good Chevrolet in Renton, WA. I had my tires (Firestone Firehawks) rotated at a Firestone dealer and they didn't re-calibrate the sensors. Good Chevrolet wants $50 on top of the 9,000 mile service and oil change to fix.

I see the instructions are in the manual now, I'll check in the morning. But if anyone is kind enough to post their results of "do it yourself" resetting, I'd appreciate.

I just had 4 sensors I bought installed in aftermarket wheels. After mounting the tires I followed the procedure in the operators manual and all the sensors are working properly. The procedure is pretty simple. Waiting for the horn to beep as you release air from the tire is the only thing, as it seems to take a long time, but just keep releasing air until the horn beeps and then move on to the next tire.

ChevyMGR is there avalible any replacement stems that are all steel that will accept the sensors. I am looking to put chome stems on to go with my smothie hub caps .

Just like Rockone, the re-cal'ing after a rotation is a breeze.
Sure like anything else the first time it might seem a lil nervewracking (The "what if i screw it up" 's ) but after you get done you'll think to yourself, "that was a piece of cake"
Print out a copy of the How To's for doing it, and read over it a few times for practice, bite yer lip and jump right in.

After the horn beeps let you know you are done, you'll wonder why places charge so much to do it(and they got the handhelds to do it)

I have never tried to use a metallic/plastic/whatever they are made of stem on a vehicle that has the rubber stems. We try to always replace with the same part unless directed to due otherwise by GM.

Not with GM but there are aftermarket ones, you just have to use their monitor instead of the DIC.

Good news, during my service today, Good Chevrolet re-calbirated them for FREE!!

That's great, afterall it only takes a couple of minutes to do it. Maybe you should let them rotate them next time since Firestone is still in the last millenium with their equipment.
