I checked my gate and all of the lock opertions for that matter todya. I think that the "clunk" is just the actuator resetting, as there is nothing lose rattling etc. in my gate. The lectronics all seem to be in order right now...and I have an exorsist on call in case the electronic demons attack

Yep, I got the clunk from day uno...11/2/05. Not too worried about it but I will have them fix it when I take it in.

I've gone through the ordeal of the rear hatch not functioning, and getting the actuator replaced. Before it malfuctioned there was no clunk of any kind when opening, but afterwards it makes a really loud clunk when opening. If your's is making the "clunk" then I don't think you should worry about it.

Went to the car, slow at work, and tryed to find the rear liftgate release lever, could not find it. Took a 7" screwdriver, and with the liftgate up I locked the latch. I slid the screwdriver into the slot and pointed towards the lower part of the latch on the driverside. With a little bit of fishing and pushing, was able to unlick the latch. It is not where the book says. It can be done, but take a lot of fishing. You have to angle the screwdriver downwards. Best is to try it with the liftgate open. Good luck!!

Um....if it's already open, then why would you need to find the release lever?

JX3, it's easer to try it with the liftgate open, that way you can see both sides and watch it work.

Have you gotten it to work with the door closed?
