Now my hhr ride is smooth.

I jacked it up and spun the tires. No noise. Passenger side turns a little easier than the driver's side. The more I hear it when I'm driving leads me to think the bearings are going out. I'll have to wait till I get some time from work to bring it in to the dealer. 5year/100k mile powertrain warranty, I hope this covers it.

Try jacking and spinning the wheels by hand again. While you're doing it, rest your other hand on the coil spring, lightly. If there is a wheel bearing gone, the side with the vibration will be the side with the defective bearing.

Disc brake wear sensors near the edge of the front rotors "chirp" when the pads are nearly worn out. How the CV joints made out after the 5 foot "fall" is anyone's guess.

Just got my '08 back from the dealer yesterday. Driver's side hub bearing was bad and replaced. I wish they would have replaced both sides, but I guess a return trip is in the future.
