Success mounting Garmin to the dash?
My Garmin won't stick to window glass - it falls off and nearly causes an accident within 30 minutes of driving. I ordered an overpriced triple -foot mounting gizmo from Garmin, but I don't think it will adhere to the pebbly dash plastic of the HHR. Anyone find anything that works, and where did you mount it?

My tomtom's plastic suction cup needs a perfectly clean glass spot, and a little bit of moisture to stick. After it's on, though, I've left it up for months without problems, just remove the gps itself and leave the mount.

some options would be
-vent mount like mentioned above
-using one of those smooth discs you stick on your dash.
-a navmat (weighted disc cushion thing with the smooth disc in it, that way you just toss it in the back or whatever, but they are large...
or the method i use on my tomtom...
A little spit on the finger, swirl it around on the disc, stick it to the window, BAM, never comes off. Even gives me a bit of trouble coming off when i want it too. Tomtom's don't have the little swing down locking arm like garmins i have used. Sticks like glue with a little spit though...

My Garmon will stick to the windshield. Clean glass, moist suction cup. I mount it low, just above the dash. In the hot weather in a hot car it tends to come off after 2 or 3 days. I use it in two other cars and even took it with me when I flew to California for use in the rental car. (they wanted $13/day for a rental GPS)

I've tried the spit thing and it helps. Can you describe the vent mount? Do you mean you close one of the round dash vents and stick a suction cup temporarily to the flat vent cover? I could see how that holds, but I was wondering about a place to permanently attach a mount.

This may be too low on the dash, but I've used Pro Clips in my other vehicles and they are really great items. No drilling, no screws, no damage to the dash. Easy to install and easy to remove. great flexibility in mounts for phones, navigators, iPods, and more. You buy the vehicle mount, then add the device mount that you need.

This is what I did, not the best solution but when not in use which is most of the time, I keep the lid closed.
