login timeout

I have been logged out several times while reading forums and once while adding my introduction post on the introduction forum. I thought I was taking to long to do things, but when I corrected a swypo in my introduction post, I was logged out even though the edit took less than a minute. I have now tried several times to post this request for a fix and keep getting logged out. Is there a way to prevent intermittent logouts or increase the login timeout interval? Please help; this site looks useful and has given me things to check out for an intermittent check engine warning but is very annoying to use!

I think it must be on your end, either your IP or your system.

Sound like you're using a smart phone, probably whatever app you are using.

X2. Must be on the OP's end. In almost 5 years of being a member here, I have never had mine timeout.

Yup, I checked just to be 100% certain, and we don't have a login timeout.

To the OP, check your settings and get back to us when you can.

Yes, though I've never seen browsers force a login timeout before. Maybe a memory saving app is clearing caches and cookies for me, like my kids clear out my cash and chocolate chip cookies! On android it's happened so far in chrome beta, chrome, and dolphin mini. Haven't tried dolphin jetpack, Firefox, Firefox beta, opera, opera beta, or Opera mini, or disabling whatever I have that saves memory yet.

Surely your web server's session cookies expire after some time? I have another possible culprit, though: battery saver arbitrarily connects and disconnects to Wi-Fi and that would break connections.

After I signed in and selected 'remember me on this computer' (however long ago that was!) I never have to sign in again unless I clear my browsing history and there's even a way to do that without clearing active logins in Firefox.
