jx3,
Greetings from another Macaloon! Google for Graphic Converter, a poor man's PhotoShop. It lets you do WAY more than just resize. Its shareware and worth every penny since the author is constantly upgrading the proggy!
Wackaloon (who now has sumn besides his Mac to blow his money on)

I know there are limits on dimensions for images in signatures and posts, but shouldn't there also be a filesize limit? If the concern is loading time for dial-up users, filesize is far more important than physical dimensions.
This thread alone has an 854 kb signature (courthousedeb) and a 551 kb signature (john 11). (BTW, I don't mean to call them out specifically, since they aren't the only ones with large signatures. Since they posted in this thread, it just is an easy example to choose.) By themselves, either one of those signatures would take a dial-up user at least EIGHT TIMES as long as the 588x568 pixel "PIXresizer" screenshot posted in the first post, which is only 66 kb.
Personally, I'd rather wait a few seconds longer to load high-resolution HHR pictures in posts over waiting for unnecessary fading and transition effects in signature images.

BUMP..... reminder about picture size in your posts!
Try to keep them at or below 640x480.
