Head for the Biltmore in August

What I have so far.

This event could be weekend of Aug. 12 & 13, 06 (Other dates optional)

First, the site is located at:
http://www.biltmore.com

I would encourage you all to go have a look, and try out some
package rates, look at the "Fun Stuff" & "Area Hotels" links, etc...

They consider groups to be 20 or more. Less is at individual rates.

They have many packages starting around $550 to over $4000 per
couple for a couple of nights. Package details can be found at the website.

All rooms at the Biltmore Inn are non smoking and no pets.

I have contacted the group planner for our area, and left a message.

More details to follow...

More information.

The car Photo opp is doable as long as we can be ready
as a group before they open the gates to the public.

That means before 8 am on Sunday.

The package rates are not offered to groups. The
packages are for Biltmore Inn guests.

Surrounding lodging is available and varies
($190.00 to $275.00 per room) for a King suite
depending on several different providors. Many of
these come with day passes to the Biltmore House.

We can still receive a group discount for 20 or more
for regular admission to the Biltmore,
(Group day pass = $35.00 approx. vs Reg non group of $45.00)

Guests of the Biltmore Inn are more likely to receive
preferential handling...

I will check into other area attractions.

Here is an official Asheville attractions site:

http://www.asheville.com/attractions/

Looks like they have a lot of possibilities.

I live in SE Kentucky. I could drive over for that. I've been to Biltmore house several times. GREAT place. Are you wanting to do a group picture of several HHRs in front of the Biltmore House? That would be super.

Another option for lodging in that area is the Pisgah Inn. It is around 25 miles from the Biltmore and is the highest point on The Blue Ridge Parkway. The Parkway is a cool place to cruise, with very scenic views. The North Carolina Arboretum is located at the exit off the Parkway headed towards the Biltmore House. The Arboretum is another very nice stop with beautifully landscaped trails, gardens, greenhouse, etc.
Before I forget, Pisgah Inn does have a web site but since I don't know how to do hyperlinks I can't add it to my post.

I would love to meet everybody up there for a weekend but, I can't until the following weekend at the earliest. When will the dates bet set in stone so everybody can make definate plans? Is there a decent airport around or would it just be easier to fly into RDU? My girlfriend wants to go too but, she will be flying in from NE.

All: PLEASE feel free to e-mail me & I will send you my phone #'s

KY Dave -- Yes on the Group picture with our HHR's on the drive!
How cool will that be?????????

Clarke33 -- Your hotel idea sounds Great, I will look into pricing
and post Thrusday, ( I am in stinkin meetings all day today...)
Also to post a web link, in the advanced "post reply box",
look for the globe and chain icon, click it and type the address.
Then for good measure, do a Preview Post and try it to make sure it works.

Airborne -- Dates are not firm, but the longer we wait to firm 'em up,
the more full their calendar becomes due to fall colors, concerts,
other groups, etc... So, they will be less able to cut us a deal...

Also, I am not familiar with NC airports, but most cities offer
a puddle jumper at a higher cost...
Also, Chattonooga has an airport that might work for your gal.

I am excited! We have three maybe more from my
area that will be willing to attend this regional event.

My girlfriend and I are in! We have been looking for a reason to visit Biltmore, she really wants to go.

Maybe getting a place a couple miles out and cruising in Sunday all together would be cool.

You should update the main post with Event details once they are solidified and a list of who will be attending.

Should be a blast!

CS-- Yes, I will update as soon as everything starts firming up,
right now all is subject to change, as you can imagine...

I had one vote for the weekend of Aug. 20, and I think that will work for all.

It may be tuff to firm up via this forum, but we can make this happen!!

I wanna go, gosh darn it all... And I want that photo in front!!!
