Pisgah Inn rooms are in the $85-$95 range if we would want to cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway also.
I would be glad to stay in one of the hotels outside at $100 or less a night. I am afraid that if I stayed at the Biltmore, I might end up with a dungeon room. Just kidding!

Well, when I checked last week, the BI had rooms.
But the longer it takes us to zero in on a date, the less
likely we are to find a room there or anywhere else in
the area. As I said, summer concerts and seasonal
changes will block up the area pretty fast.

Let's just concentrate on a date that will work, then
we can go after lodging.

The Pisgah rates are better than the BI, but the facility
is MUCH older, and will NOT be as nice. Now, I am not picky,
but older and cheaper may not be a better combo in this case..

Believe me, when we are traveling, we don't stay in dumps. A couple of years ago we ate at the Pisgah Inn, while driving the Parkway, and I took a look at one of the rooms while there. You are right about it not being a new Hotel but the rooms were very clean and had great views of the mountains. I really think we can find something nice, in the area, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm too cheap to drop a grand for a two night stay!

OH, PLEASE forgive me. I was not trying to say anything like that.

And we agree, the BI may be tooooo much!

I meant that we have stayed in hundreds of hotels over our
course and in our experience, the older ones are not always
the nicer ones.

I am sure the Pisgah will be fine, and I am sure somebody
will want nicer. You know how folks are. I for one am not
concerned about lodging. Just about anyplace will do for us.

Again, let's focus on a date, then we can start putting it together.

Look closely for the two flower pots. Just over this
wall you will see the pavement area in front of the
Front Lawn. This pavement area is where the HHR's
would park.

By all means lets get a date set, Kathy and I want to do this. Like some others have said, we just want a decent place to stay for the weekend without having to spend a fortune. Living on a fixed income as we are it really does make a difference between attending or not. As we all know, the sooner we can set a date the better chances we have at getting reservations at a decent place and at a good cost. I don't know anything about the area so I'll just have to rely on those of you who do. Hope to join you there for a nice weekend. -Dan
