UO101 code

This may have been addressed in the past but I need help. My 2006 hhr is showing the code uo101. I checked fuses they are ok. Transmission stuck in low gear. There are a few readings that are blank and the speedometer no longer moves. Any help out there.

TCM. Sounds like your transmission control module needs replacing.

Is it true this replacement has to be done in a shop because it needs to be reprogrammed.

Yes it will have to be programed when installed. Before you swap parts try disconnecting the battery for awhile. This will let the modules reboot when you hook the battery back.

It may not fix your problem but it is a worth a try and it's free.

Check the wiring to the plugs to both the ECM & TCM. Also try Googling "U0101", those are zeroes. obd-codes.com will probably help.
