Replacement Wheel Covers What To buy?
The orginal plastic wheel covers on my wife's HHR look terrible. We are looking to replace them with a chrome finish wheel cover any suggestions?? there are many sold at Amazon just need to figure out what type

Those are the five spoke wheels, paint always fits! You can paint either the hub cap or the wheel either body colour or a contrast, then there's always hot rod red!

Look on E Bay as well.
The best ones have a foam gasket all around the inside edge of the wheel cover.
Best to go with plastic bolt on's .. they are the same as you have.
Do not over tighten when you re-install..
I bring them up just snug and stop there.
Make sure they are all tightened approx. the same.

I purchased chrome ones from a vendor on eBay. The plastic "bolts" are not that great, I don't think the Chinese do threads very well, so you have to be really careful when tightening them. The other bad thing, only after a couple months of winter, they started to pit really bad and the chrome was peeling. I complained and the vendor sent me another set. Before I use the replacements, I'm going to spray them with clear to hopefully give them some protection from the elements....
Otherwise, you could always re-paint your originals with that special rattle can plastic paint (several major brands have it); might be cheaper and would turn out looking pretty nice....

I agree about the effects of the ice and snow with all the chemicals and salt used on the roads.
All very corrosive and the wheel covers are getting more then there share during the winter season.
Painting with a good Poly clear coat on top might be worth the effort.
