Snow tire question

Gonna snow tonight, want to put my 16 in snow tires on....if I leave my 18s on the back ,will it screw with my abs? There is a difference in overall dia. Would just be for a day or 2....hopefully. thanks

It will probably set a wheel speed sensor code if there is enough wheel speed difference. After the abs light comes on the abs will be disabled the major problem is before the code sets and the abs is disabled the abs may do some strange things thinking your skidding and I would think that could be unsafe in bad weather. I would not recommend it.

You didn't mention what the sizes were of your tires. But good move running the 4 snows!!!

You can use the tire/rim calculator tool at the top of the page to figure out if there is much of a difference in TIRE diameter - the rim size is not the determining factor of course.

Punch in your numbers and it will list out the difference at the bottom in inches and in %.

There must be a threshold for the difference before it starts to affect the ABS system - but I don't think there is any discussion here on it so far. I've run with the mini-spare on the rear for a day or two, and never noticed the ABS complain.

Interesting question man.
