Tire size caculator | odometer | speedometer

Is your odometer/speedometer off after changing tire or wheel size?

Taken from miata.net web site:
"Use the calculator to see what happens to your speedometer reading when you change the size of your tires and wheels."

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Thanks to T 20 for posting this link in another thread. I felt it worthy of a sticky in the this section.

NOTE: You need a Java enabled browser to view the graphic calculator.

Thanks to Sleeper, here is one for one if your browser is not Java enabled:

Cool Sindy, This is one of the ones I use: NO JAVA needed... simple

And you can compare any speed you select to see the difference..

Another one, this one will allow you to compare more than just 2 sizes at the same time.

I'm really curious as to why most of the online Wheel and Tire stores recommend such a narrow tire. According to all the website calculators, when going up to a 17" rim the closest diameter fit for my 06 LT with 16" rims and 215 55 16 tires would actually be 235 45 17s. Most of these sites are only recommending I use either 215 or 225 at the widest. Most of the aftermarket rims I am looking at are at least 7.5" wide which should not cause a problem with fitment. Can anyone tell me why I should not go to a 235 on new tires? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

I think the 215 & 225 recommendations are based off the 17" oem 6.5" wide rim.

Try the link I posted above & plug in the rim width of your choice.
