Tire Pressure monitor mount method?

For those in the know, how is the tire pressure sensor mounted inside the RIM?

Is it on the backside of the valve stem, or mounted elsewhere inside the rim?

I have a chrome wheel that was rashed by the previous owner. I want to replace it, but the only identical looking and 17x7 size is listed as a malibu rim. I am curious about the transfer of the TPS sensor.

thanks,
steve

My stock SS came with a threaded stem with the senor on the end of the stem. THe steel wintet wheels use a rubber stem with the sensor on the stem.

The new systems are on the valve stems and can be used on most any wheel.
