If it was an 01–03 it had 394HP 4.4l v8

These are both 89's I believe but one is a M5 and one is a reg 5 series. Notice that there is almost no difference in these two crs aside from the rims. I believe the later E34's (closer to 95) had body kits on them but they sell these kits on ebay and elsewhere just as they do the rims. It is quite easy to make a replica look real when the parts are so readily available and there are not that many parts to add/exchange. I am not saying yours was not real as I wasn't there but it is actually easy to make one look flawlessly real. Many Mustang owners do this very same thing. Either way it was a good kill and if it was one of the M5's then a really good kill it was.

I am dubious that someone would be "ballsy" enough to put a MRQWICK plate on a cobbled together faux M5. If one were of the mind to do that, then I'm not sure why they would pick a race with an SS badged Chevy. Seems like you'd be setting yourself up for humiliation.
