My SS vs ~08 Monte carlo SS

Today i visited my brother in batavia ny, and on the way back i ended up behind a monte carlo SS(newest body style). we were on back roads with no traffic. at one point the road went from one lane to two lanes and i floored it and blew past him(older gentlemen). about ten minutes later he did the same thing to me...so finally we had an open stretch of road with two lanes and we went from about 40mph to about 100mph. i had him by a car length and we both let off...needless to say i thought those things were faster than that, but i did some reading and found that they only have 303 hp and 323 tq... i assume the added weight of a bigger car was the reason i pulled ahead.
and i know it was stupid and illegal

Yeah the Monte Carlo's and Impala's are porkers in comparison to the HHR, the 3.6L V-6 in the 2012 Impala beats the 327 V-8(5.3L) in the discontinued SS's both in horsepower and torque, but it sure doesn't sound that good....nothing really beats a V-8 soundtrack.

Our cars do rock. The Monte's are a much bigger and heavier car.

No doubt about that sweet V-8 sound. Sometimes I refer to my HHR as the magic carpet because it just unexpectedly flies away without any of the sound and fury of a big engine.

An LS3 would be sweet in an HHR. I wounder if it would fit with a little trimming.

Not to nitpick, but the 5.3L has 303 HP and 323 lb-ft TQ, while the 2012 3.6L has 302 HP and 252 lb-ft TQ. My wife has a 2009 Impala SS and she loves it.
The LS4 is a marvelous engine, and the stock exhaust tone is gorgeous on those cars. (I honestly don't know why anyone would change the exhaust, but they do...)

I have to admit when I first read the title I was expecting to see yojr post stating that you had beet the monte ss by a few.but after rwading bere and cbecki g the net and seeing that they did come with the 5.3 I can see what happened.
Also
Here is a post from someone on the net with a monte ss 5.3
i ran a 14.08 @ 99 on my second pass with my 07 SS. it just has cat back magna flow exhaust. i have the time slip to prove it. my 0-60 is a lot faster than 6.0. I have not tested it yet. I am also running on the original tires with 30k on them. this car will smoke and gt, some cobras, will hang with a Z28. these cars are sweet. I have plans for drag radials, cold air, exhaust cut out and a pro tune. I hope to be in the mid to low 13s when im done. i will also put in new plugs. i will post my time slips as i make mods so we can keep track of what helps at the track.

So I would say ylu did very well chalk it up as oneore person out there saying what the? $#@? Was that .and how did it just vet by me lol
One reason why I love my hhr ss
