SS vs Taurus SHO
#21
To be fair, considering what I've done with the HHR, consider for a moment what an awesome sleeper the new Taurus SHO would be with a tune that removed the limiter and maximized boost from the twin turbochargers. I already own a regular Taurus that my wife drives. I'd put her in a SHO in a heartbeat if I had that kind of scrill to drop. She's conflicted though. She likes 4 doors but wants a Mustang.

This group works closely with Ford Engineering and has refitted numerous SHO's that are just badass.

I looked up another few sites and they are all reporting the top speed on the Taurus should to be 115 MPH
Twin Turbo v6 running 13.7 @103 in the quarter stock.
0—60 5.?
I think the lunch box had a gmtu on it.
So from a roll I would put my money on the lunch box.
I would also assume that this car was stock and did not take to long to hit 115?
I also am betting that ford geared the sho to run quick I highly doubt it will run 155 unrestricted.
Just imagine how much quicker our she's would be in the quarter if they had the gearing of the non Ss's
But I think gm made a good choice with the ss's gearing.
Chalk one up for the lunchbox
Here is a site comparing the show to a mustang

I still find it hard to belive they speed limited the SHO to 115?
Wow in the 11's already with a SHO
I would have to assume they have put close to 5k in mods to get the car down the fast but I could be wrong.
That would be one hell of a sleeper until the word gets out.
Maybe gm will hand out free GMTU's to all stock SS owners such as myself you know just to keep the GM performance division name up and all or at least a discount would be nice.
We would not want Ford to get to far ahead now would we.
Of course I know we are comparing apple to oranges here.
Lets see how fast a stock Taurus SHO can make a lap at the famous Nurbugring Race / Test Track it is widely considered the toughest and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world. We can proudly say that the SS has made it around in a very respectful time.
Here is an explanation on the track for those who have not heard of it
"This is arguably the most popular most demanding and also longest track for road-car track-days, magazine tests, prototype testing and race events. Originally, the track featured four track configurations: the 28.265 km long Gesamtstrecke ("Whole Course"), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km Nordschleife ("Northern Loop"), and the 7.747 km Sudschleife ("Southern Loop"). There also was a 2.281 km warm-up loop called Zielschleife, around the pits area. Between 1982 and 1983 the start-finish area was demolished to create a new GP-Strecke, and this is currently used for all major and international racing events. However, the Nordschleife is still in use; nicknamed The Green Hell by Jackie Stewart, it is widely considered the toughest and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world."
here are some numbers.
Being limited to 115 I would think would hurt the SHO on this track but what do I know I am a drag racer.

I want a sho. Id use the SS as the DD and use Sho as weekend/trax car. The sho has alot of ways to go, to unleash the power. The ss is kinda stuck at 390hp (mines not their but thats roughly the max u can get with the torq steer being too much). AWD is the way to go, my buddy has an evo 6 and... 450+ hp, and that thing is monsterous. I might be in the market for the sho in a year or so, gotta wait for the parts to roll out!
