2000-2004 Saturn L Series
2003-2006 Saturn Ion
2002-2007 Saturn Vue

If you have a crankshaft position sensor like the one shown in the last photo, this engine will fit your application.

I also have a short block that is freshly machined with new pistons, rings, timing chain, water pump. that will fit newer HHR applications. If you need a complete engine (2.0, 2.2, 2.4) I can put one together to match what you need.

Block bored and honed
4 new pistons
Rods machined
Cylinder head: Valve job, valves, valve stem seals, milled, valve guides replaced
Crankshaft ground and polished
Valve cover Gasket
Timing cover gasket
Timing set: Chain, guides, gears, tensioner
Balance Shafts timing set: chain, gears, guides, tensioner
Water pump
Front crankshaft seal
Rear main seal
Head gasket
Main bearings
Rod bearings
Piston rings

Installation is available.

Price depends on the core engine you provide in exchange for this engine.

You must post a price , either a starting price for a short or long block, or in the description a price range.

As for a price, assuming your core engine is good (no hole in block, compete, etc) I can usually install a fresh engine for $1800. That includes all labor, parts, fluids, and proper break in.

That price is for an engine built with aftermarket parts. If want to upgrade to GM factory parts, add about $500.

If you have an SS 2.0 engine, then the price increases based on each situation.

Perhaps list the brands of parts you install, like Cloyes timing and balance shaft chains, water pump, new VVT phasers if required and Melling oil pump, AC Delco thermostat, spark plugs, coils, do you include a front timing chain guide upper replacement bolt? Do you specify Clevite rod and main bearings, new camshafts, that sort of thing.

Here is a parts list of the last Ecotec engine I did. It was a 2.4 direct injection and in this case was all GM parts
12605565 1 Oil filter kit
12584041 1 Crankshaft seal
12680750 1 Timing chain kit
12649233 1 Balance chain tensioner
12635427 1 Balance timing chain
12620540 4 Iridium spark plug
12611196 1 Head gasket
12609291 1 Valve cover gasket
12622410 1 Thermostat
24435052 1 Front cover gasket
12591866 1 Rear main seal
12591093 1 Rod bearing set
12591092 1 Main bearing set
12646457 4 Piston
12621505 2 Camshaft Actuator
12572638 16 Lash adjuster (lifter)
12659419 4 Piston ring kit
12630084 1 Water pump

If I do the "budget" route I still only use GM OEM for the following: piston rings (or Hastings), timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket, rear main seal, front crank seal, spark plugs, main and rod bearings.

The budget route would use DNJ pistons, EEEP timing set, non-branded valve lash adjusters (lifters) or reuse originals.

Oil pump gears are removed when timing cover is disassembled for the hot tank at the machine shop. They are inspected and if need replaced it is with Melling parts.

My pleaseure.

Also all my engines include at least a 12 month warranty. If I install it, the warranty includes labor to remove also. If you buy the engine outright, you will need to remove it and return it for all warranty work.

I have not had a return due to engine failure. I have had some gaskets leak a couple years later or similar. Usually the people I help tend to change oil oil regularly after paying for a replacement. That gives these Ecotec engines a long life.

I do not take any money up front. You do not pay until the engine is back in running as I claim.

Thanks for looking everyone.

What possible cause of "over heat and boil back from first start"? Only thing that comes to my mind is timing off a bit, or somebody forgot to remove a dust cap from new cooling parts, radiator, pump etc.

Could have been air pocket in the cooling system, my 350 SBC melted down ten minutes after initial start up, the water pump was cavitating, the thermostat didn’t open to let the coolant fill the block, my engine builder replaced the entire engine on his dime.

You list only the 2006 HHR, are your you not able to supply 2007 thru 2011 HHRs?
