Acceleration lag

Have a 2009 SS with stage 1. It seems under moderate acceleration i get a VERY noticeable lag, almost a hiccup, before it takes off. Not present (normally) during heavy acceleration. Very annoying! Nothing worse than turning a corner, steeping on the throttle, and getting blah, then zoom. Any ideas?

Check your air filter. I noticed something similar this summer (along with the car stalling from time to time). My air filter had come off from its fitting.

If that doesn't work, keep asking around - somebody here will figure it out!

What type, and did you check that it was mounted properly inside of the airbox?

I'm guessing your in second gear when your in this situation? Either keep your revs up coming out of a turn or drop down a gear.

Trukguy,
Have you ever owned a turbo car before?
I'm not hassling you, I'm asking an honest question.

The turbo lag is very slight in our cars but it's there.

I owned the 300+HP 4g63t powered Plebani built 4x4 Mighty Max pickup for a while.
There's nothing like the thrill of the turbo hitting 18 PSI when pulling out into traffic in the rain with a welded diff in a pickup truck
Almost went into a full spin the first time that happened.

Good point Mowgli. For anyone unfamiliar with turbo lag, it can be a bit discerning.
I'll bet it was fun parking that thing in parking lots with a welded diff

that is the best sleeper ever:lol:

but sounds just like turbo lag i got rid of some of the lag when i got a air intake it helped.

If you have an automatic maybe its not going down to a low gear which could create a lag. If you have a manuel it could be LSD with traction control and esc which is killing the cars tires from spinning. Mowgli has a good point as well. Best thing I can say is try to eliminate some of the things people post. Turn off traction and esc if an auto try to slow down a bit more or something. Watch your boost gauge to check for air leaks. If it seems odd after your cars been sitting awhile and completely cool pop the hood and feel from the intercooler to the turbo for air leaks. Reason you want it cold is for the cold start and its not as hot trying to do so. That or just have someone rev the car up a little bit and hold it. as mentioned check your air filter and if all fails take advantage of warrenty!!

As has been stated above, ours is one of the more lag-free setups due to the twin scroll design and good programming, but it's still going to rear its head under certain conditions. Turbos are driven by engine load, not RPM, and maximizing turbo efficiency requres a certain amount of anticipation on the part of the driver. Downshifting plays a big part in this, and is a good bit more cumbersome with an automatic. Going around a corner doesn't present a lot of opportunity to preload the turbo. It's the price you pay for having the most efficient forced induction setup, but also the reason I have a twin screw supercharger in my 3900 Lb GTO. Torque curve looks like someone drew it with a ruler, and I have buckets of boost at 2500 RPM.
