BOV replacement: Forge Motorsports
Ye Haw! Whats not to like.
First, installed the K&N/AEM air filter, after grinding a notch in the bottom of the airbox. This filter, compared to stock filter is a whopping 6" larger dia., so more filter area.
Installed the Forge valve, after drawing blood, due to tight confines, and then after everthing buttoned up, took it for a long, hard, test drive.
Found out that the boost comes on quicker, and holds longer[I'm running yellow spring, and tuned], and saw 26 lbs. boost in 3rd gear, no drop.
Not sure if it's the filter, valve, or both together, but I definately felt a noticeable pickup overall. Sucker runs like "Jack the Bear", lights the tires harder, and even has a different sound[like a bark], and is a little quieter, than all the whoosing sounds, and loud sucking sound as before.
I'm not easily impressed, until I see results, and I was definately impressed with the pickup, I felt. Well, worth the time and money. "Moon"
Footnote: This filter will no way, fit in a stock airbox, with the lid on. The bottom also has to be notched out big time.

Just received my forge BPV from moderperformance.com. this one has the angled nipple. During the install I found out that the opening of the forge valve where the air is diverted doesn't line up perfectly with the downward air path within the turbo. The options for mounting it are strait up, angled towards the firewall, and angled towards the engine. Is this unit different from anybody else's? If not, in which position should it be installed...Forge has milled one of the three sides flat for reference I assume. I ended up installing it with the opening angled towards the engine.
As far as sound....I have a k&n filter element only with the airbox lid off and had a dejon spring installed. I considered the stock bypass system, with dejon spring, not to loud but still noticable. After the forge bpv was put in its place IT GOT QUIETER but sounds a lot smoother. In my situation the "bark" was taken away and replaced with more of a "whoosh" sound. Very cool sound but I wish it was louder.
Also tried both springs. Let's start with the green. This is the one that is already installed in the valve. It worked great and not one bit of flutter. Then I put in the yellow spring. I did not expect any difference in response but to my surprise the boost did build quicker and the car had a quicker response BUT I did hear some slight turbo flutter after WOT 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. But was way less severe then the flutter a dejon spring creates. Only tune I have is GMTU 21psi peak

The one I got from GenuineSaab had the nipple straight out like the stock one. It should be positioned with the opening facing down. See the engine cutaway pic on page six of this thread for reference.
Installing it with the opening facing directly down is NOT an option. There are only 3 different ways to install it... 1.Opening facing upwards 2. Opening angled towards the engine and 3. Opening angled towards the firewall. In position #2 & #3 the opening faces down some but there is no way to mount it with the opening facing strait down.
XtremeSS: I have the exact same valve from ModernAuto. It's the angled nipple valve.
The flat on the valve housing, goes on the bottom. The slot does'nt exactly line up, straight down, but will work just fine. Plug it in and enjoy. "Moon'
