Catch Cans?
Catch Cans?
Has anyone here used one in the SS yet? If so, does anyone have the correct routing of the PCV lines? I've used them with great success in the past with my other cars. Looking at the plumbing in the SS it looks like the vacuum line going to the coldside pipe off the IC is the "recirc" line from the PCV valve. Is that correct? I'd like to install one in the SS but will wait until I know the correct routing for the PCV lines.

It would just remove excess oil from going back into the manifold to be burned off into the exhaust. I would be worried about the loss of boost if not done correctly but if done correctly it could keep some oil from returning into the manifold.
Exactly. A catch can's purpose is to remove the excess oil blowby and crankcase ventilation byproducts that's put back into the intake tract to be burned off. It's done that way in all cars for 'emissions purposes'. After a little while, all that blowby that's recirculated can form gunk in the head, it can foul sensors, etc. Basically it'll "catch" all the suspended oil particles/vapors and collect them in a "can" (hence the name "catch can
); then you can just drain it and dispose of it properly. I just want to see if there's a schematic for the routing of the PCV hoses so that when I get one it'll be done correctly, and like bad03extreme mentioned not screw anything up.
