Cobalt-HHR Cross-platform Parts
 

Ok hope this is a usefull Thread, maybe make it a sticky?

Now that production for the HHR is over, and products are starting to disappear faster than rats on a sinking ship, cross buying parts is gonna have to happen. Much like Torino parts fitting a Maverick and Thunderbird from the 70's. Question is with so much available for the 'balts what parts will be direct cross-over for us? Obviously there will be parts that won't work but a list of ones that do might be helpfull, especially since designated HHR parts are drying up quick, and most of the original vendors have bailed.

Please feel free to add anything that works on our cars.

exhaust componenets, most intercoolers (except the Treadstone tr10 and tr12), intercooler piping except injen, brake components, clutches, short shifters, suspension components (springs and coilovers), tranny and motor mounts, turbos, all internal engine components, spark plugs, ecu, axles, map and maf sensors and any other sensors i believe, and many others are a direct swap for the cobalt ss and hhr ss

I learned this a long time ago......it makes shopping for mods much easier.

On my HHR LT 2.4 2006, I use:
Brake Pads from LEXUS RX 350 / Toyota Harrier first model;
Front stabilizer links from the Toyota Camry (Solara, Avalon, Lexus GS) 2003 model year.
All these parts work well. I have to change this parts on a regular basis, as you all. In Russia, the HHR / Cobalt Parts are lack fatal, but the parts from Toyota and Lexus as much as **** behind the barn. It is easy to buy.
In the near future will replace the air filter and rear shock absorbers. I intend to find analogues.

in Russia, we often use the method of "picking on the model."
This is a simple way: you take your old part that needs replacing, and you're taking in auto shops. The seller brings out the warehouse the same part or very similar to it. With high probability, this part will work very well. For many years I've not been wrong not once.
At various times I have acquired in this way:
Rubber engine mounts;
Bushings for stabilizers;
Brake discs;
CV Joints - wheel drive;
Timing belt, tensioner pulley;
Gaskets of all kinds;
can list more.
There were times when the parts from Opel and Russian vehicles stand on my wife's Toyota.
Gasket from a Ford engine was on right hub my Carina ED.

I did not do it for the sake of the experiment, but for the sake of saving money or time.
Save time: Sometimes parts are not available, I am forced to make an order and wait 7 - 20 days. Loss of use of the car due to breakdown of cheap gum is very sad. But the other car must have exactly the same gum With high probability. Little effort, no complicated calculations - no problem!
Saving Money: A simple example: on my Carina ED two tension rollers. The first is $ 20. The second is $ 110, because it consists of a roller and bracket. But I do not need a bracket! I buy two first roller. I not replace second roller "complete with bracket", I replace only the working body - itself the tensioner roller. Saving $ 90 and working time (unscrew the bracket - 3 nuts and adjustment, unscrew itself the tensioner roller - a 1 nut on the previously configured bracket).

I repeat - it all worked perfectly and never fails. Despite the first impression absurdity.
But only for cars, second hand - or the loss of warranty.

cobalt xhaust is a tad longer than hhr xhaust.

just to make it clearer.......... the hangers and the way it's routed is the same as a Cobalt. the only difference is that the tip is farther away from the muffler on a Cobalt than a HHR.
