Codes are showing P2187 and P0304
Hey I have a problem I did a lot of things for the car after these codes showed up. I did spark plugs, MAF, MAP and I cleaned the air box, change the filter. Checked connection but everything seemed ok. Still have the codes and it’s running rough. I now ordered some ignition coils. Please help I want this thing running again like it should. I have time till summer or the better weather.

The P2187 is pending, it's probably caused by the misfire on #4.
A good, free diagnostic technique for a misfire like this - your misfire is on #4, so swap spark plugs #2 and #4, and swap coil packs #3 and #4. If the code changes to P0302, then it's the spark plug that is bad. If it changes to P0303, then the it's the coil pack that's bad. If it stays P0304, then it's something mechanical in the cylinder (rings, valves) or it's the injector. You'd then perform a compression test to see if it's mechanical. |
The tube is the fuel line from the High Pressure Fuel Pump to the fuel rail.
The oil would be from the valve cover gasket, or the cam-driven HPFP, or perhaps just spilled oil when adding oil to the engine. |
Sorry you are having this trouble. How many km on the car?
Please stop buying parts until you know that is causing the problem. You might start buy putting a scanner on it before a cold start and monitor the air/fuel ratio as it warms up, and while driving, and also the fuel pressure (after the high-pressure fuel pump) at various engine speeds. Whatever is causing the P2187 (fuel trim system lean at idle) is likely also causing the misfire, so it would be best to focus on the fuel. It is curious that the misfire tends to be confined to #4 though. I would suggest a compression test. But carbon deposits on the valves can cause uneven performance omong cyclers as well. You could try cleaning the fuel rail. Maybe the injectors too. |
A 2009 SS , good possibility the intake valves are coked and causing the issue, you’ll have to pull the intake manifold to inspect
