Coilover question verus struts

Guys with Pedders XA coilovers:
What[if any] is the tire clearance with Coilovers versus Stock struts?
Going with Pedders coilovers in the near future, and a much bigger tire.
Wondering how much more[if any] tire clearance I might get. Looking a maybe a 275/35/18 tire, if possible, for more mechanical grip. Tks. "Moon'

the roundabout answer to your question is yes....you will get more clearance due to the strut body being much smaller than the oem strut. what is the difference? not sure. but would say you will gain about 1/2" of inner wheel clearance. if joe or one of the other guys with pedders coils (or other brands...don't think one brand will negate any more clearance than another brand) can chime in with an actual measurement that could be compared to stock

Moonsign, I can see your ride looking sweet with Coilovers and bigger rims, not that it already does. Joe would be able to help you with this, he has them on his red SS.

Going with Pedders Xa coilovers, and 275-40-18 tire , Kumo's, if I can fit them under the SS. Need lot more mechanical grip[read: Traction] to improve my times on the "Goodguys" autocross course. Been spanking a lot of the V8's, but want to spank more. Coilovers supposed to be here in next couple weeks from AU. Just trying to line up my ducks. "Moon"

You get away with a 265/35/18.

Rob: Was hoping I could maybe squeeze a 275/35/18 ,25.6 dia.-10.7 wide tire under it, frt. and rear. Since we don't have any snow, and not a lot of rain[except couple of winter months]. I'm gonna be using the Kumo Ecsta XS, which is a street/competition DOT rated tire[Can you say: Sticky-sticky].. I don't put many miles on the SS in a year, so not worried about tire wear. "Moon"

265/35/18 is pushing as it is the only thing I see it working is a 9" rim could always get them widen.
