Dealer to install GMPP kit
Dealer to install GMPP kit
After checking with a few dealers in the area ( MoCo Md. ), I ended up going with Criswell Chevrolet. Not only were they the only ones who had done the install, they quoted me $250 to do it. When all was said and done, I got an oil change, and the install for just over $280. Good group of guys, I highly recommend anyone in the area looking into using them.

I made a point to ask about this. My service writer Nick, said they only had an issue early on with one kit. From the sound of it, he has done a few installs himself. I may regret it, but for some reason I felt good dealing with him. It didn't hurt that he cut like $50 off the total. I had to ask the cashier to see the receipt to make sure they did everything I wanted, and she said Nick had just called over and told her to discount the total. I don't know why he did it, but I'm not complaining.
If they can't cut 6 wires, crimp 6 wires and replace two maps sensors and o-rings with one of them being on the top of the engine and in plain view, something is seriously wrong.
I can understand that the lower one is a bit of a hassle to access but I just don't understand where all of these problems are coming from (and time). The docs are clear (and include the gotchas), the job is simple and there isn't much to it. The top map takes 5 minutes, the lower one takes 15 minutes and I'll give them 5 minutes to check their work. If 5 minutes of checking and staring aren't enough, it's the wrong shop. If they want to do the bottom map from the bottom then I will toss in 15 minutes for the lift. If they can't get it up and down in 15 minutes ...
Ok, I'm being a bit facetious and serious at the same time.

Nick told me what takes the longest is getting the new flash from GM's servers. I dropped it off at 7, and got the "it's done" call before 11, not that it mattered, since I was 20' in the air with a spice case in pieces. he knew he had all day to do mine, and they offered a shuttle service.
Mine worked great for almost 1 1/2 years then a gremlin moved in and made the butt splices his house. I read where 4 others had the same issue and they cut out the butt splices soldered it in and the car ran even better, So I tried it and damnit if it didnt fix my issue as well....Just a small learning curve here from others that have had the issue. no more over-boost codes.....
I got quotes from "we don't do that" to "380, but I'll drop it by 10% if you by the parts from us, and you won't have a warranty if you supply your own parts". 250 wasn't bad, but the fact that they've done quite a few if them was the real selling point.
