Has anyone had any "Problems" with their Trifecta Tune?

As alot of you guys know....I've been fighting with my car for over 5 months now (boost issue).

I got together with a VERY good HP tuner from cobaltss.net (Chevycobaltss3) this past weekend. We logged the car to see what the car was doing. He said the car was off by 30% and the Trifecta Tune looked horrible. It was not "fine tuned" at all. He said that it's also possible that the Trifecta Tune file that Vince sent me could be "corrupt" causing my boost issue.

He said, it's the tune or a sensor. Anyhow, he suggested that I go and get the car flashed back to stock then get the GMS1 tune flashed back onto the car. If I do this, I'm going to have to pay to get it reflashed (they wont do it under warranty). I'm guessing it's going to be around $80 or so to get it reflashed.

Just thought I would ask you guys (that have a Trifecta Tune) if you've had any issues with the actual tune. Because if I go and get the car reflashed...and it still runs bad....I'm back to square one....plus I'd be out $80

I have had a few, but Vince has tuned around it, I was hoping you would figure it out, and tell me. Mine has a studder or lag tween 1st and 2nd. I think it is the bypass doing it, since it is missing a little in reverse again, last time it did that the Dealer replaced the bypass, at 25K miles. I have 56K miles now, so I figured the second wasn't any better than the first one. Vince, updated my tune like 7 times and tuned my tranny twice. Maybe I'll send you a log see what your buddy say's about mine.

Yes and No. I have two Trifecta tunes. One for the HHR SS one for my Impala SS.

The Impala SS tune did not let the radiator fans run and the car overheated.
Luckily I caught it before any damage and reinstalled the original tune.

Now it runs fine.

The first HHR SS tune was good, but abrupt so I rarely ran it. Now I have data logged the car and have a decent tune, that is smooth and fairly predictable.

Yesterday did a test with the HHr from a standing stop. Mine is an automatic so I put the car up to 1000 rpm, released the brake and floored the car.

First gear pulled like crazy at about 25 lbs of boost but right before the 1 2 shift the power shut off, two seconds passed, the car slammed to second and off I went.

When I looked at the burnt rubber on the road there were two equal streaks from both tires in first, then 50' of nothing, then 2 more equal streaks from both tires as it went to second.

It's so abrupt it must be worse for the transmission, than a smoother shift.

I asked Vince to correct it, but he doesn't have a base 2008 transmission tune to work from, only the 2009 which is different.

So bottom line is I'm looking for a good HP tuner to fix the 1-2 shift.

Anyone know of one?

IMO

Mine was doing that too, Vince turned off the differential protection, shifts quick now. It's a 09 though. Nice you are getting positraction. You still running the Michelins ??

No I'm running Falkens that I'm not that wild about. I have Conti extremes on my EVO that I love and should have gone that route, but yes, since I've owned the car going from a dead stop both tires level virtually equal streaks of rubber.

Long streaks until the torque management kicks in.

these Gmax 03's hold the power pretty well, They kept the differential, the same, I can feel them both slip and grab at the big pull (top of second gear) makes the steering want to go a little side to side. I can't do a burn out without turning off the traction control, it catches the spin quickly.

You might get ahold of Chevycobaltss3 from cobaltss.net
This guy really knows his stuff

Anyhow, I'm kind of stuck...whether to get the car reflashed (for $80.00) and have it possibily run exactly the same....or it might possibily fix the problem. Might as well play the lottery while I'm at it...
