Are HIGH-PERFORMANCE TURBO BOOST CONTROLLER worth buying?

I saw this being sold at JC Whitney, and was just wondering if anyone thought it was worth the money (about $130). Reading the description where it says it dramatically increases the boost levels from 1 to 30 psi, I'm pretty skeptical. Since a 1 psi increase is not dramatic in the least. If it said a 15 to 30 psi increase, I would have more confidence in the product, but I just thought I would check with you experts. I don't know if the picture of it will come out correctly.

-------

HIGH-PERFORMANCE TURBO BOOST CONTROLLER
Get more power out of your turbocharged car without spending big bucks on an electronic boost controller Hot blue anodized finish looks terrific under the hood Regulates wastegate to increase boost power

Dramatically increases boost levels from 1 to 30 psi above stock without spending hundreds of dollars! 2 boost control mechanisms: one ball-and-spring mechanism for large and coarse boost pressure increases (keeps pressure out of wastegate until preset boost level is reached, minimizing wastegate "creep" and providing quicker turbo spool-up); one bleed-valve system for precise boost pressure setting. Adjust boost by simply turning bleed screws with hex key (included). Installs in line with the pressure hose running from the positive pressure side of turbo to wastegate actuator system. For all cars with internal or external wastegate system and cars with factory electronic boost control systems. Easy installation with included brackets and hardware.

You would be better off getting one of the aftermarket tunes that are proven and supplied by our supporting vendors. Or the GM tune that is expensive but supported by the factory warranty.

Do some googling...you can make the same thing for $30 buying the parts from Lowes/Home Depot.

On a modern car they do not work! PERIOD!

Thanks, I figured they wouldn't be much good. I'll just have to save up for the Stage 1 kit.

unless you plan on changing out your bosch, you don't need it. as someone said, use the tune. an ebc(electronic boost controller)would be far more better than that and they run around the same price of a gm tune. most of todays turbo charged cars have an electronic sylinoid(sp) to control boost pressure settings, which is all regulated through the ecm. older cars benefit through boost controllers. i had an ebc on my 04 srt.worked like a charm. i also had the st 1 kit for that as well.

Hey did you end up putting on a boost controller? I am interested in getting one since its the cheapest form of being able to adjust your boost levels. The only thing that i would be worried about is an over boost where it would throw it into limp mode, Hope your enjoying your car.

you will blow your motor if you try to slap a boost controller on. with the tune kits, the a/f ratios and other parameters are preset. also, the ecu won't like it or it might not let you turn it up by just putting on a boost controller. now,you can by pass the boost cylinoid(sp) and hook it up that way,but you you would still have to tune for it and the ecu still might throw a code....i'm sorry and i 'm not trying to be an ass about it,but you can't be cheap and want more power,ESPECIALLY ON THESE CARS. if you can't afford to do it right,LEAVE IT STOCK or wait till you can do it right.

DO NOT put on a manual boost controller. If youre running stock the computer will pull it back anyway also you can blow your motor to pieces if it does not.

Haha i read what mouse wrote after i posted
