One more tip:

Save your stock tune in a safe place in case you ever need to write it back to the car.

Also when I modify a tune I rename the old one keeping the original file name and adding the reason why the change. Notes such as 30 psi spike or great HWY or original GMTU shift points. Great for later reference.

Yeah, I plan on emailing a copy of each file to myself where I can tag it and save it for future reference. I'll also write protect anything on the laptop.

Victory, did you notice and HWY MPG change? mine is still saying 26mpgs doing 80. Dont know if i need to reset cluster or not to get the proper info, or if HMY MPG is just unchanged. i about to go on a trip and just wanting to know if the tune is affecting the MPGs while cruising.

I use versioning. For (an oversimplified) example:

TUNE_vX.Y.Z

TUNE = Tune name. Represents the overall aim of the tune.
vX = version number. If I were at v1 and I started over from stock and accomplished a different but better tune, it would be v2.
.Y = the current iteration of version. Modifying something not in this or previous iterations results in an increment to this.
.Z = The current revision. Involves minor revisions to an existing iteration.

Then I can just document top-down in a separate document with each iteration containing the prior modifications unless changed under the revisions.

Whenever I change a tune I reset the display and check the average when I get to work. It's 60 miles of mixed driving so it's a pretty realistic average. It went up about 2.5 mpg's to 28.5 with the latest tune. Two days ago I put a different DAL table of mine in and still get great mileage with awesome power. I think the new trans settings really did the trick.

The biggest change for fuel mileage is to bump up timing a few degrees in the normal cruise ranges. Make sure that there's no KR.
