hey RJ I have a couple questions. I have read this over the last couple days. Every single post lol. I have a 08 cobalt ss turbo same motor as the hhr (lnf) and I am very interested in doing this. So I was thinking long and hard about a system. Would it be possible to run the dirty lines into one catch can. With a filter system in it. And then run the clean lines (one to turbo and one to intake manifold)? With a one way check valve in line with the intake manifold for boost reasons. And allow the turbo to provide the suction while boosting? Thanks!
You could try it. Make sure you have check valves on each line, between the tee and each vaccum source. Otherwise, the manifold vaccum will pull from the catch can, as well as the mouth of the turbo(not efficient).
When I experimented with 1 can(phases 2 and 3), I was having some issues with the oil filler cap(excessive crankcase pressure). I had some problems with the check valve near the turbo as well. In hindsight, these issues rendered my results as inconclusive.
If you do try a 1-can system, monitor it closely. Make absolutely sure your check valves are installed directionally correct.
I would try like you're proposing, and then after that, try it drawing from only 1 point of the crankcase.
And, of course, keep us posted with your findings.

i will definitely keep you guys posted for sure. In the process on getting it all together. I messed up tapping the pcv port for the can. So off to zzp I go with a ldk intake purchase. Stupid me. Lol but gonna order a smaller npt fitting that goes to a an6 fitting. Gonna make it look good. Before I ordered a 3/8 npt fitting and it was WAY to big but I tried it anyway. Stupid mistake. But oh well you love and you learn. Ordering the correct stuff tonight and will share my results in the next week or so. Also for my manifold vacuum. I’m gonna drill and tap another hole in so I don’t have to mess with the booster line. Would that be alright to do? Thanks!

also RJ I was reading up about crankcase pressure and stuff also and I watched this video of a r35 grr on a dump, they ran it with a tune at about 24psi I think and it pushed like 400 something. Then they put 2 atmospheric catch cans on it and made the same power while lowering crankcase pressure which also lowered the boost a tad. So they tuned it again and brought the boost back up and gained 20 hp. Could we do this on our cars? Where the catch can vent into the atmosphere?
Your old manifold is junk? If you want to drill and tap the manifold, you may want to try on the junk manifold first, to make sure the spot you want to use, the metal is thick enough.
I don't know anything about tuning. I also don't know how the cans could vent to atmosphere, maybe there are check valves installed in the vent?
You could nose around the hptuner boards, maybe find out more.
If the catch cans are vented to atmosphere, you would also have to have the crankcase inlet filtered and drawing from atmosphere. Another alternative is to try using an electric vacuum pump, if it fails the crankcase will stll be vented.
This would be an interesting test. Installing a Vac-U-Pan system after the catalytic converters.
It pulls vacuum from the crankcase and also oil vapor. A negative pressure in the oil pan helps the rotating assembly work less.
Had this system on a couple of my 1/4 mile drag cars and it worked well. RPM came up a lot faster, ET dropped and trap speed came up.
