K&N air intake

So I'm wanting to get an air intake and I've been reading around here. I've seen people replacing the stock intake tube with K&N tube and keeping the stock filter just so no codes pop up. You guys think this is the best route for air intake?

Hi
You can buy just the parts you need from K&N. I bought the pipe and quick connect fitting from them. I already had the silicone reducer coupler's. They can be bought from Advance Auto, Pep Boy's ect. They are made by Spector.
The stock air filter is round and does a very good job of filtering along with the stock air box.
You will notice an improvement in throttle responce and no codes will be generated.

Thank you! Just bought my hhr last Wednesday and already gave me a check engine light for the intake camshaft solenoid. So there fixing the intake and exhaust solenoid for free. But I'll be ordering those once I get her back!
