Liquid To Air cooler

Strange Idea I have.

So i come from the mustang world where there was an intake that sat on top of the engine that had a built in water to air intercooler. This unit was designed for blower applications to cool the intake charge going into the engine.

The ECO air box ontop of the engine looks liek a perfect canidate to install a radiator to additioanlly cool the intake air before the turbo. Circulating ice water would allow even cooler intake temps then just the Air to air intercooler alone. This seems like it would be a great idea for drag race applications where an ice box can be filled after every run to circulate through the intake box.

Not suer how well it would work but it wouldnt be to hard to fab up at all.

Something like this http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=20

Let me know what you think.

I wouldn't waste the money put it to something esle you shouldn't have to worry about the air going to the turbo only after. A blower setup is way diffencet then a turbo setup.

If you want to lower IATs, use methyl injection. Increases fuel octane and lowers temps.

Do a fender mount and be done with it. http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.c...c22/index.html

air to water system is a great way to go. But is used more in racing forms. I had one on my 746whp sti and worked great but won't us it on a hhr ss unless ur planing on making alot of power and have the money to do it right. But would be kool and be diffarnt.

Like said above, air to liquid coolers are for AFTER the air is compressed.

the supercharged cobalt uses an intake manifold with laminova cooling tubes, its part of the supercharger kit you can get for the non-ss hhr.
I think it actually uses the same model bosch pump as the mustang, and the front mount cobra intercooler is a popular upgrade as its a little larger than the thin chevy one.

OK,

Go to Home Depot buy about 16' of sugrical tubing, 1 cut-off, 2 T- couplers, and 2 small sprayers.

rig the whole thing to your windsheild washer and run it to the front of your IC. Then while its still winter buy several gallons of the 50/50 winter mix, and walla.... 10-15 degrees cooler at the Intercooler itself, every time you press the washer button.

when you want washer fluid for your window, just turn the cutt-off. you can get fancy and rig a switch to disable the wipers too, or pull that fuse

It aint gonna be pretty, but for 20 bucks.
