New 'gasoline' 'tune' for you to try.

2 Attachment(s)
I've been running E47 Ethanol 'tunes' since I bought my 'buggy' almost 15 years ago, & an E47 'tune' is still the best, if you can get Ethanol in your area,
But, I've always wondered how a good gasoline 'tune' would feel like.
So, after almost 15 years I have developed what a think is a most excellent 'gasoline' 'tune' , that I really like. LOL

The 'base' program is the GM Performance 'tune', the stage1 'tune', so you need to be running the 3bar sensors to use this 'complete' 'tune'.
Buy some 3bar sensors if you don't have the GMS1 'tune' & use this complete 'tune', as it will turn your 'buggy' into a monster. LOL

If you still have the stock 2bar sensors, you can still 'use' most of my 'table' changes to improve your stock 2bar 'tune'.

We’ll have to ask everyone that tries it to, name that tune!!

I have ZZP tune.
I don’t have any experience with any other tunes but I’m totally happy with ZZP.

I have a 2010 HHR SS 5 spd with the stock MAP sensors. If I wanted to try this tune, would it be as simple as me loading your file in to VCM Editor and then adjusting the MAP sensor linear, MAP sensor offset, Boost sensor linear, and Boost sensor offset back to the stock values that my stock tune has now? I do plan on upgrading to the 3 bar MAP sensors ZZP sells eventually, but it sure would be fun if I could try out the hotter tune this weekend! Thanks for sharing, @2005HHRauto !

Surely not, if only because your 2010 LNF has bigger injectors than the OP's 2009.

Canned tunes have limitations, and a proper one doesn't quite optimise because that would be risky. Someone else's optimised tune should be used with caution, and the need for tweaks should be expected.

If yer new to tuning, get experienced reputable help.

Also, you don't need all that hardware to get improvements with tuning. You don't even necessarily need the 3-bar MAP sensor unless you get close to 25 psi. Grind thru the SS threads in these forums for more.

As always, it's complicated.

Do you have a source for this information about 2010 having different injectors? I don't recall reading about this before.

Oldblue Dec 6, 2025 09:05 PM

They do show different part numbers no information on flow rates or anything else

Wow, I hadn't read about that anywhere else, thanks. @PulpFriction , thanks for the reply. My wagon has very low miles and is more or less like it left the factory with the exception of window tint. I've started going through the HPTuners tutorials, and it sounds like I should make a copy of my baseline tune and then manually copy over @2005HHRauto 's values for his gas tune from the comp file over to my main. But I'm completely new to this, and if I'm off base please let me know. Is there a repository of tunes somewhere where I could look at what has been tried and proven for other HHR SS owners?

Don't remember where I first read about it, but it it's pretty well known in the HHR SS community, and I confirmed it with my friendly local GM parts dept (and failed to record the numbers. Maybe Oldblue will post them in the part number thread.)

I have two purely speculative possible explanations. One is that GM realized that there was a fuel starvation problem under high power, possibly as a result of the GMTU tune. The other is that before GM cancelled the HHR SS, they planned to go FlexFuel, and that would definitely require bigger injectors. FlexFuel turbo EcoTecs did indeed appear.

Heavily modded ecotec turbos definitely require enhancing the fuel supply. They might even add a fifth injector to the intake manifold (giving the added benefit of valve coking protection.)

That's all I got.

@PulpFriction since you also have a 2010, do you have a good pump gas tuned starter file that I can look at?
