Redline worry/question

So having the manual HHR SS and the Trifecta tune I have been throwing down. The worry I have is, how much is to much redline? (I have a CBR sport bike so I am use to really using 1st gear till about 50-60 mph and 1st gear for the HHR isn't really there.)
About once every 2-3 weeks I redline it in 1st and it takes a couple of seconds to notice it. Obviously you can blow a motor holding it at redline, what are your thoughts on redline? Worries? Dos and don'ts? (I get concerned sometimes about the motor)

Thanks.

The valvetrain is good till 7k. Mine is 6850 and beyond first gear i rarely hit redline.

Its really only in first gear that I hit redline. Im looking for, "I hit redline all the time in first and its no problem." Just some peace of mine I guess.

Doesn't the launch control keep it from going over?

No it only limits revs to around 4k before launch after that you are free to red line.

To the OP: I've hit red line quite a few times and I believe the hhr ss has a rev limiter so no worries.:steering: If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will chime in.

In stock trim, hitting redline usually means you are past the HP peak anyway. Should have shifted already for best performance.
With your tune, your upper power band may be a little higher. Going a little in the red is probably OK. Going deep in the red could be bad.

Unless tuned out I thought we had an anti grenade program built into the ecm that cuts a full redline after 3 seconds.

So if your on a stock tune, shouldnt you be able to no lift shift at redline as well? For some reason it wont go into gear :p

I have the Trificta canned tune. I would guess he would take that fail safe out...

Are you asking for an OK to beat the ***** out of the motor and it will take it just fine? Odds are if you are jamming through the gears and run up to/into the red once in a while it will be ok. If you are trying to run down the road at 45/50 mph in first nonstop just because the engine isn't at redline yet I think your asking for trouble.

In the end no matter what. The harder you use something the faster it will wear out and break down.
