I was originally going to do Trifecta as I like being able to turn it on/off but Kind of changed my mind on it now due to that.

Wow glad I saw this. I originally planned on getting trifecta after my warranty is up. This sucks but glad I saw it before I dumped the money

I did hit 25 psi or very close to it,it runs better,I got 30mpg NO freeway driving, average speed was 23,seems only problem is traction.
Depends what people are looking for I'm not tracking the car,I'll use it for fun when needed.

If you don't mind me asking who did you get that tune from? According too cj anyone running anything over 20psi on an automatic is not being supported by Vince at trifecta so if you have a problem Vince will not help you because your using a tune he didn't write. apparently companies like bad news racing are still selling the 25psi tune and telling customers it's a trifecta tune from Vince and it's not

Man this revelation bums me out. I was hoping to use Trifecta to give me an even snappier tune than my GMTU after my warranty is up. We do have a good speed shop here that has tuned this engine so I guess I'll do that. I'm guessing the GM tuner specialist they have that I talked to uses HPT. Even he said he would only try to get another 30HP out of my automatic due to the transmission being the weak point.

Vince will only do the same boost on Autos as the STage 1 but i will tell you that his tune is way better for allot of other things than the GM stage one tune that comes w the sensors
the GMTU tune is ok but not all that great. there is more than one thing that makes a tune important

he will only just go to 20 to 21 lbs of boost. that is the only limitation. he does other great things like remove the learn down feature, remove the limiters, better power curve than most i have seen on his tunes.

doing tunes for Vince now since 08 i can tell you that i would do the tune thru him versus others on tuning

on manual trannies he does the 24 to 25 lb boosts

I went through bad newes I get no support as its a can tune.
Although I did have one problem not with tune but I had out of date software to load it(ez tune),which could have been my fault,I don't know.Ez tune software was out dated ez tune didn't see my car hooked up,they were very helpful I was asked to send log file to bad newes so trifecta could see my issue, next day they knew right way my software was outdated.
My car did get 24 to 25 psi least first day I got it I have not been driving it very hard so I haven't checked on psi
For MY situation its perfect I'm not tracking the car.I wanted just little more, like I said before only thing holding my car is traction and I'm sure trans will take a beating, thats why I drive like I'm civil.I drive with tune all the time because my mpg went up like crazy,no freeway I got 30mpg.
Very happy and it was very cheap, might not every bit of hp out of the car but I don't want to either.

I'm hitting 20-23lbs with GMTU "WHEN" it does kick in totally there are points in the mph range where it will only hit 15 ex: Wot from 40mph roll. So, even though he won't let my auto with the GMTU sensors hit 23lbs, you're saying is still get more power from his 20psi tune?

cj krause 04-11-2014 01:09 PM

Usually the GMTU doesn't hold those 22 to 23 lbs. Usually hits then drops some.
The trifecta is a better all around tune than GMTU. Remember 1 Lb of noost is 8 to 9 hp. If you have questions you can call me on phone hwy answers. Number is on my cjsperformance.com site.

Easier to answer more detailed ?'s on phone

The way i see it this is the order i would put the tunes in power wise for an automatic hhr ss top being the most power, bottom the least. Again this is for automatics only after hundreds of hours of research and in person comparisons
1. Hp tuners custom tune
2. trifecta full tune
3. Superchips cortex tuner
4. Trifecta budget tune
5. Zzp can tune
6. Hahn racing can tune
7. Gm stage 1 tune

This is 100% my opinion after an ungodly amount of research, all of these have different pros and cons,i feel like i could have wrote a doctoral dissertation after the amount of knowledge i gained looking into this subject though!

A couple things to note.
When I got my tune (I don't think I should say who form) I got very little help & all through email. Really no instructions on how and when to data log.
I talked to CJ for about an hour on Monday, this guy knows his stuff. I didn't even get the tune from him, but he has already been more help then the Co. I got it from. If you go Trifecta, do your self a favor, spend a few extra bucks (I think with the cable $25) and get the personal service. IT MATTERS!

I couldn't agree more even though trifecta ended up not working for me, cj was great!
