Trifecta ECM question?

Hello,
I emailed Trifecta a question and did not get a response yet, so I hope someone can answer it here?

If I buy a used Engine Control Module (ECM Computer) and buy the Trifecta tune. When I flash the tune will it over write the old VIN with mine so it will work in my car (i.e. run) ?
Or will the dealer have to load my VIN in the used ECM?

Thanks~

Not positive but I think the dealer will have to change the VIN first... Trifecta will likely see that VIN in the used ECM as a different car entirely and not load.

The Trifecta tune simply adjusts the computer parameters, it won’t change your VIN information, a dealership has to do that.
Or the EBay vendor , if they offer that service.

Why the need for a 2nd ECM ? I thought with the Trifecta tune you retain the stock tune in the ECM, then can select between that and the Trifecta.
(or maybe I'm thinking some other aftermarket tune that allows this)

I would be very surprised if trifecta even responds to you. I don't think they deal with 2.2/2.4 anymore, not sure if they even deal with the 2.0 either. There have been a couple other tunes talked about here recently.

With the Trifecta you can select between stock and tune by using your cruise or traction control buttons. You just have to tell them which one you want to use. It will be installed in their tune.
