I have a 2008 Chevy hhr 2.2.
168000.
I bought the car for my daughter.
I think she fried the motor.
The car has been good to is just replaced the tires and back brakes.
Can anyone tell me what year motor will work.
Example like a 2009 to 2001 2.2.
I'm looking for direct bolt on and computer compatible .
Any help or suggestions and also where to find a good used or rebuilt one, would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

For your exact question the answer is 2008 2.2L from an HHR. 2009-2011 will not drop in 2.4L will not drop in 2006-2007 will work, but they are different innards.

To do the job totally correctly a learn of the crankshaft sensor variation should be done, but IS NOT ESSENTIAL. (everybody happy?)

So I quess I'll start there.
Just been looking and there alot more 2009 through 2011 2.2s out there with lower miles.
Hers is just the 2.2 no flex fuel.

Just to clarify the 2006 is different internally to the 2007, the camshafts are upgraded, however it will work in the 2008.
