Give the search tool a shot.

Your answer is: too many have done it to be covered here.

Here is the entire section on the subject, but there is more spred around.

kajuntrax. I see you have a 2006 model. That was the only year for that version of the 2.2 Ecotech engine in the HHR. There were changes made to the 2.2 in the following years.
That why the 2006 2.2 is considered a "stand alone" version.

You may also want to check out some of the Cobalt forum sites also. Those folks have done a lot more power searching for their 2.2's than the HHR crowd seems to have done.

Welcome to the site, I've only done conservative add ons, no internal beef ups, just an intake and better exhaust. I'm hitting 34.4 mpg on average since January 1,2016.
I know mines not a race car, but I can keep up to most highway speeds

Remember the all to important Holy Trinity of car modification; Fast, Reliable, Cheap. You only get to choose two. As a stocker, our HHR actually fit the " Reliable and cheap" moniker. Just ask Oldblue how many miles he has on his HHR and is STILL getting 34 MPG.

220927 miles still going strong. Look close, you'll see it. These are good engines.
