Angry Engine power reduced

I really need some help , my car quit on me and we had no reason as to why . I was told to clean the control sensor but it was fine . I noticed I had some oil under the body of my car so we found that yes there is a leak from a seal. We then determined that my throttle body had oil in it , cleaned that with throttle body cleaner . We then put that back on the car , ok so then we realize I need a new starter . Yes my car will start now only now my accelerator will not work on the car yet it worked fine before and now I have the engine power reduced message on my dash !! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THIS MAY BE FIXED ???

Welcome to the site.

What is the proper name of the control sensor you say you cleaned?

Describe exactly how you cleaned the throttle body? Did you move the butterfly manually? If so, it is likely you damaged the delicate gears inside the throttle body. If so, the throttle body will need a replacement.

Is the CHECK ENGINE light on? If so, you need to download the error code and post it here. Not a verbal description of the code, but the actual code itself.

So, what made it start running again?

Who told you to clean the throttle body and why?

What year and model?

Tell us what's wrong we may be able to help. It is tough to work on a car from 500 miles away. Calm down and be specific.

My car is now running and yes when we removed the throttle body to clean it we were not told to unhook the battery cable so when we plugged it back in yes it stripped the gears in the sensor so I had to replace the throttle body but now it's given me a code saying the cam shaft sensor is bad which again I'm told is due to the oil leak I hate this car and will be trading it in as soon as possible I have had this car for five years and all I've ever done up till now is put a battery in it and change the plugs I'm just disgusted about the whole situation I don't know the code it's giving for the cam shaft sensor because it was done at the body shop .

Guessing you just came on here to "vent'.
The moderators were asking for some specific info(year, engine, CEL code #'s, etc.) so they could offer you some help. Since you haven't bothered to provide that info in your reply, they can't really help you much.

I would suggest to get rid of it or trade it like you mentioned.

5 years and nothing to complain about seems pretty good to me. Oh well. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Has owned the car for 5 years, and have only had to change the battery and the spark plugs over that time, then "hates" the car after they themselves broke the throttle body? It's such a shame that the manufacturers rip us off all the time by making vehicles that have parts that wear out, or that sometimes need minor repairs.

It's in a body shop where they downloaded the codes? It sounds like there is more to this story than noted here.

Yup, sell it and move on.
