Engine Power Reduced
Driving my HHR to work last week, with about 650 miles on it, 4 weeks old, the Engine Power Reduced message came across the DIC and I lost engine power. I took the car into the dealership, they could not duplicate the problem, so they reset the "engine trouble light" and I took the car home.
5 days later, (this week) the same thing happened, so back to the dealership. The computer code was the same for both times: P2138
It took two days the get the part in (we're talking small town northern Michigan) and they replaced the Powertrain Control Module. I'll keep you informed if any new developments occur.

Do keep us informed!
I did a quick Google search and came up with this.
At carcomplaints.com

TSB #070604003 -- LSJ, L61, LK5, L52, LL8 ENGINE - REDUCED ENGINE POWER, MIL/SES LIGHT, DTC P1516, P2135, P2138. *KB (NHTSA ID #10021121, JANUARY 01 2007)
This refrences the 2006 Cobalt though.

The DTC would apply to any.
This is what I get:
P2138 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation ECM
That would indicate a problem with the pedal rheostat, the wiring or the ECM itself.
Or.... Maybe ya ain't steppin' on it hard enough and threw a code!

It didnt reduced power when you hit the gas and turned a corner? If so, that is the same thing as mine. The dealership and gm had to work together and replace powersteering module and rewire it. Mine was first 06 HHR with that problem. It was back on road in day and half. That happened last summer early fall of last year. No problems since then.
Happened Again
Well, 1/2 mile out of my driveway this morning and the "Engine Power Reduced" came on again, so I limped into work, called the dealership and the service manager said she would consult with the tech who worked on my car and give me a call back.
To be continued....
To be continued....
I'm thinking it may be the ECM that's the issue, but the first step that Dynagurl should take is to change dealers, if its done it 15 times as she's stated in another post...then her dealer is not able to diagnose the problem.
