Unhappy engine vibration at idle

I have a 2008 2.2 that vibrates at idle in Park or any gear, although it seems worse in reverse. Per suggestions, i have replaced motor mounts, plugs, and camshaft position sensor. I removed the belt and eliminated alternator and such, and it made no difference. I also removed and cleaned the throttle body. This engine runs great once you touch the gas pedal. Turning AC on doesn't seem to affect it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why replace the camshaft sensor, which one? Any codes?

What spark plugs did you install?

Your nearest auto parts store should "loan" you a compression tester, report your results here.

Have them check for codes while you're there.

engine vibration at idle

Someone told me a dirty sensor would cause idle problems. This 2.2 only has one sensor, easy to get to and not real expensive. No Codes.

Strange ... On the HHR It is usually when you turn on the Air conditioner or switch on the internal circulation that you can get a rough idle.
That can vary from the base set idle speed
My current HHR 2.4L barely changes when I turn on the Air.
Several of my prior HHR's got quite rough when I did that.
With a couple of them when it got rough I could just gently touch the throttle and it would smooth out so it is speed sensitive.
I wonder if your Air C is functioning properly or/and if your Idle speed is set per spec.
Just a thought.......

Clean the MAF sensor. And clarify what plugs did you install?

We have decided it is the motor mounts. I put mounts in it and a good friend that owns a shop asked me how I did it. I told him I jacked the engine up and swapped them out. He told me it takes 2 people to put them in and there is a procedure you have to follow or the car will vibrate. I'm taking it to him in the AM(11/23). I'll let you know the outcome..

Say what? I’ve changed upper engine mounts front and rear transmission mounts just unbolted the old one and bolted up the new one. Torqued to spec.
I did use a jack with a board on it to hold the engine to change the upper mount, but that’s it. It’s all in here...

What kinda procedure is there to replace mounts?
I have seen where the compound of the mount was to stiff , mostly on cheaper off shore mounts.
What brand mounts did you install? Was it a DEA brand?

If the mounts are that bad the flex pipe is cracked now.
