For the 2.2 crowd, your best bet and realistic gain would be from the 2.4 OEM "header", which is much like aftermarket headers, pretty efficient if you actually look at the design, resembles many aftermarket choices, at much less cost.

The 2.2 OEM manifold is very restrictive, if you saw pics and I don't know why they chose to do it that way.

GTOMike went to the effort of duplicating the better unit with his welding and porting, yet pretty much duplicated the 2.4 design, which is the exact same P/N as the Cobalt 2.0 SS Supercharged unit.

So, the choices are:

1. Buy some high dollar header.

2. Find a welder/fabricator to do what Mike did.

3. Just do the "easy" replacement of the 2.4/2.2 SS/SC with the most "bang for the buck".

And, PLEASE, don't believe all the seller hype out there!! 90% of is is pure BS!!

Chad,

Yes, the bolt pattern and port size is common among the Ecotecs.

There is no likelyhood of codes being thrown with the manifold change. I've never heard of it, and I know you sometimes hang on the "short bus" (CobaltSS.net).

The only DTC code issue I've seen is related to some aftermarket downpipes/cats or cat elimination.

i think it's worth it , but i would try to get some pics. you never know if someone has boogered it up. and if it's so great why are they selling it? i not saying that there is something wrong - just some thoughts. i would like to get a virgin manifold , and booger it myself. if you get that 1 let me know if you would like to sell your old one.

Before you all start buying up ss/sc exhaust manifolds the 2.2 2.4 and the 2.0 ss/sc from 2007 and back are the same header I don`t know if they have different part #`s but in 07 they removed the part #`s off the casting.I have not seen the 08 or 09 cast headers so I can not say what they are like.

In my how too post the picture of the 06 manifold with the O2 sensor in the side of the manifold was a 2.4 engine. They had 5 other 07 engines all 2.4 all the same manifold. Here are 3 pictures of a 2.0 SS/SC factory exhaust manifold you can see in the one picture the threads on the inside. You can also see the big black ring on the flange the opening on the cat side is 80mm on the flange side it is 45mm.

Interesting

Huh. so it looks to me like the 2 best mods here for the 2.2 HHR would be a 2.4L intake manifold and the 2.4L exauhst manifold.

Does any one see a problem. I only ask cause i have the 2.4 intake on the way, i might as well get the 2.4 header if this is true. Have them put on at the same time. ??

Back me up
