So are they interchangeable or not?

1. Are they interchangeable or not?

2. If so why?

3. I have a 2008 2.2 would it be worth while to use the 2.0 SS/SC exhaust?

I want to improve the exhaust and I do not want to go to headers because of the problems they all have. If a 2.0 gives me a significant improvement then that is the direction I would like to go. But I do not want to get the new exhaust and find out it is the same as what is on there or would not work for some reason.

I am also not going to do the welding and complete porting although the one Mike did looks really nice. I may clean up the ports some but nothing major.

For the most part, yes. Unless there is an issue about primary O2 sensor mount location, already mentioned.

Dunno. You have to answer whether or not it's worth it. My pics clearly shows how restrictive the earlier 2.2 is.

Get tight with a GM parts person. Find out the P/Ns for both the earlier and later manifolds and when they actually changed.

The P/N for both the earlier 2.4 and the 2.0 LSJ is 12581284 (identical). If there was a later change on the 2.4, not honestly sure when and what the difference is.

Sometimes ya just gotta do some research. If you can't put your hands on an '08 2.2, shoot, it's only 3 nuts to drop your downpipe, look and measure the outlet.

Yes, Mike did a very nice job on his. Unfortunately not something can or want to do.

Mikes looks very nice

Mikes exhaust looks very nice and I think it would probably noticably increase performance. My concern there with welding and porting cast iron is will it crack and leak later?

And is the 2008 2.2 exhaust smaller than the 2.0? Will have to try to find out.

Ok just went out to the shop and dug out a new 2006 2.4 header part #12581284 then went to www.gm-auto-parts.com put in the # and solved the GM header case.

It is the same as the one that came off my 07 2.2 in 07 they removed the part # on the casting. The header comes in a box with the part # on the box GM is just messing with your head.Going back to my old post about saving your self $300.00 and not buying the GMPP header.

It`s just GM running the different parts game they removed the part # so you think there is a difference. This should be called the 2.0 ss/sc 2.2 and 2.4 performance mod as all three would benifit the 2.4 would make the most gains I would think as all 3 engines are trying to push exhaust gases out a small opening.

I said Headers because there is different kinds of headers (dick)
