Quick update:

I pulled the hose off the purge solenoid under the hood and plugged both ends. The idle seemed to run smoother. There was no missfires that I could hear.

I checked the fuse and it was not blown.

The MAF sensor feels fully clipped in and not lose so that's good. Wiring looks okay as well.

I'm not sure what brand the 02 sensors is.

I'm going to get a new Evap purge valve solenoid and report back. Our local NAPA did not have one in stock when I asked a few days ago. The part number they use doesn't seem to cross reference with other stores so I have some researching to do.

Autozone and Advance both stock them in my town.
Now all the stores have different numbers. The price has ballooned since I last got one.
You don't "need" the bracket, unless you are really lazy and/or break the one on the car.

I seem to remember that SOMEONE here once posted the the Autozone Duralast purge valve appears to be identical to AC Delco item, right down to the mold marks.

So right now the idle when starting, jumps around 1k and 900 rpm... Like a hunting idle and quite rough. Almost feels like it wants to stall.

If I give it some throttle and let off, the idle comes back down, bounces around a bit and runs smooth. It's like a hiccup and then smooth. The check engine light hasn't come back on as of yet but sometimes it takes a a few drive cycles to show up. (I cleared the codes after installing the purge solenoid)

So aside from the hunting idle, the car is running much better. I don't think it's completely fixed but will see how it goes. Maybe the computer is relearning... I'm going to scan to watch the fuel trims when I get a chance.

So you replaced the purge valve or did this fix itself?
