Question Spectre Intakes???

Hey everyone I was wondering what everyone thought about spectre intakes? Was wondering if they are any good. I can build my own for about 75 bucks. Seems too cheap. But I looked at the parts and they seem like good quality. Anyone use these or have any advice???

I know I want on of their filters for my SS, because the look cool. But on the advice side of things, you would still have to find a way to relocate your MAF sensor some how...unless you chop up they factory airbox

Well I'm asking because I'm looking to do it on our Mazda. But if I could I would try something different with the HHR as well.

I figure not anyone on here would. But I wanted to know if anyone had experience with spectre. Any leaks or issue with them or are they a solid intake system like injen or some other. They appear to be setup the same and built very similar. But spectre $75......Injen $200

Ok now a two part question. So the vent tube that goes from the head to the air box on most cars. It's the crankcase vent correct??? Anyway as far as putting a crankcase filter on the end of it and not running back into the engine, is that good, bad, or not really matter???

Spectre makes a MAF sensor mount for the HHR. Part #9405. I used one to make my custom intake about a year and a half ago. No problems at all. Don't know about the Mazda.

I removed that tube and put a Spectre filter on the crankcase vent when I did the intake. Again, no problems at all. Lunchbox did the same when he installed the superchrager.

There's nothing special about most metal/aluminum intake tubes. They all will work the same. It's the couplers that have the most issues. Interestingly enough your local hardware store can supply some killer couplers that'll last. If you're using any replacement MAF tube, just be sure the MAF sensor is installed correctly. Some put a "gasket" of their choice to ensure the sealment of the MAF sensor but that's up to you.
