Hi Folks, new here - I need a new intake cam for the 2.2 as the reluctor wheel has moved on the shaft. Any thoughts on this? Seems impossible to find a new intake, exhausts are plentiful apparently. Please advise. & Thank You in advance:-)
Ok, good info! I was suspecting the cams may be the same as my son said it is a VVT engine. Wonder why nobody lists the 2.4 as fitting the application, even GM says the 2.4 isn't for the vehicle. I'll order on up and measure everything just to be safe before trying to install it.
Ok, thanks , I looked at the 2.2 and 2.4 in the RockAuto catalog and the exhaust cam is the same part number but the intake cam doesn’t show in the 2.2 listing.
And here’s confirmation the intake cam doesn’t fit from 2.4 to 2.2
No explanation as to why it won’t fit, I suppose a different lobe grind might be the reason. As you say measuring is important, and sending it back is an option as long as you don’t install it.

Reason: House keeping
Thanks man. In reading some of the threads I'm beginning to wonder if the thing skipped time and that's why the reluctor wheel appears off which it also would if the cam isn't in time any longer. My son ordered a new GM chain kit as he was going to replace all of those bits anyway so when he pulls the cover off he can easily see if it skipped time if the marks are off. He was going down the path of the reluctor wheels failing (moving) based on a TSB he read. May not need a cam after all, we'll see.
Reluctor wheel? Isn't that on the crankshaft?
Do you mean the phaser/actuator on the sprocket? That is supposed to move. That's what VVT is all about.
There is a bit about it in the shop manual (link in my sig).
