2.4l mod question
 

I have a 2006 with a 2.4l manual transmission and I was wondering if anyone knows of a place who is trust worthy of doing a built ecotec. I live near St. Charles, MO and I would like my motor to be turbo with block and head redone. Any ideas?

Zzperformance.com has been known for their ecotec builds and kits. Not close to you but you could get it all shipped to a local shop.

You do know that putting a bigger pony under the hood of yer buggy will also require other work don't you.

The additional horse power will probably wreck havoc on the stock transmission and drive train.

I know Prod does scary things with his so he might be able to tell you the mods he made to transmission, clutch, suspension and things like that.

Yes you can find crate engines for your HHR but to me they are cost prohibitive. When I needed to replace the engine in my '06 I went with SWEngines.com.

I got one with around 68,000 miles on it and a 2 year warrantee for under $2K.

I did a lot of calling around to local junk yards first and did find a few 2.2 engines in HHR's but they were not '06 HHR's and the '06 is pretty much a stand alone engine.

I'm not sure you could expect a stock '06 engine to hold up even if you could get the electronics to work with the turbo and other goodies you want to add.

I'm not wanting a replacement engine, I'm wanting mine to be rebuilt with forged pistons, head ported and polished plus turbocharged.
