Adding the SS Turbo?

I haven't really read all the specs of the difference in the HHR SS motor, other than it's the 2.4 with the Turbo.

But if one wanted to add the turbo from the HHR SS to thier 2007 HHR, does anyone know the cost and possibilities?

I'm just wondering if you could tell Mr. Goodwrench to take the SS Turbo equipment and place it in my 2007 HHR. Then fork over an arm, leg and first born child :)

Actually the HHR SS is a 2.0 litre turbo. I don't believe that turbo will work on the 2.4. I'm sure someone will chime in and confirm that.

Ah yes, my apologies. 2.0 with the turbo.

Talk to Bill Hahn. He's boosted the Eco upwards of 400 HP without any structural mods to the engine. Another guy on here put a supercharger on his and got around 300 HP out of it.

If you have the automatic transmission, you may have problems handling the horsepower increase. The automatic version of the SS has a limiter to hold the hp down to keep from overstressing the tranny.

Meh...add a shift kit. Once the tranny eventually starts slipping just have it rebuilt with heavy-duty parts. If you're laying down the cash to add a turbo system, you'll have enough money to deal with the transmission anyway.

I'm waiting for the Hahn Racecraft turbo kit that should be coming out for the 2.4L HHR soon. This will be tested and proven(at least better than a homebrew kit) for the 2.4L Ecotec in the HHR. Generally, factory turbo engines start with lower compression, while non-turbo engines raise compression as high as (reliably)possible.

The 2.0 Ecotec turbo also has direct fuel injection and other features not found on the 2.4L. Retrofitting the turbo from the 2.0 to the 2.4 would be essentially almost starting from scratch, at least in terms of tuning to prevent detonation.

The Hahn kit should provide a bolt-on application that should be reasonably safe.
