Blue chip performance chip
 

Does anyone know about these performance chips being sold on e-bay. I know usually anything that sounds to good to true usually isn't. Has anyone tried this?

I haven't tried one but just read through a few pages of one of the sellers feedback, several buyers opened up the "Blue Chip" and found nothing but a resistor. A resistor couldn't do what the seller claims the thing does, if it could the "resistor mod" would be the happening thing, here, and in any other automotive forum on the net.

Also two sellers, one a new account and the other's feedback is questionable..... it's the same guy. I wouldn't buy one.

Most either directly advance the timing or fool the pcm into thinking it's ambient air intake is colder and therefore enriches the mixture and advances the timing with no real input as to what is needed from tps, speed sensors, etc... In other words they're $.99 junk in a fancy label.;)

The resistor probably hooks in series or parallel with a sensor input to fool the computer into thinking that the engine is in a different operating area of its program. The computer then advances timing, richens/leans mixture, etc.

While this may seem like a good low-cost way to possibly provide a little more performance, it often provides very unpredictable. The manufacturer probably didn't go through every possible scenario of engine operation, and you may find the "bad" scenarios. For example, it may be hard to start in certain weather conditions.

I personally would stay away from it.
