Can I run 1/2 ethanol 1/2 normal gas in my 06?
Has anyone done this? I saw an article discussing this in the local paper. If I can save a couple bucks a fill up I'd like to.

No. The HHR fuel system is not set up to tolerate more that the 10% some states, like Missouri, require.
I guess, the real answer is yes. But why would you want to? Not any cheaper, less power, and less mpgs. |
You'd also run dangerously lean. Ethanol's ideal Air-Fuel ratio is much richer than gasoline's.

My dealer and I were talking about the HHR being able to use E85 next year. He says that with the vehicles out there now that the E85 has to be at least 40 cents less than nolead just to break even as far as fuel mileage.

=============== Example: Gasoline = $4.00 per gallon Ethanol needs to be less then $ $2.80 per gallon |
This is exactly what I was looking for. Opinions on ethanol in the car. I didnt think it was a good idea, but wanted to see what others thought.
The article was singing it's praises, so I needed to hear the other side. |
Not to mention all the corn on the cob I can't have if you fill up on ethanol!
