CGS Exhaust

CGS has released an axle-back system for the HHR (2.2 and 2.4 liter). Their website doesn't say anything about performance gains. Has anyone else been keeping up with this product?

Great debate and near flame posts on this topic... better off using the 'Search' fuction on this one
The most recent (supposed) news is that Gibson is reworking their cat-back due to poor fitment on the 1st release. No news on progress, however...

What thread are you talking about Scoot? I bet you are thinking of SoCals intake comparison. This is what Airborne Beachbum is talking about. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/deleted-threads-41/new-cgs-axle-back-exhaust-system-3577/

A friend of mine had the CGS Exhaust system installed on their HHR. They called me to let my know they got it, they were disappointed with the system. For one it was only a muffler and not a cat back system. They said it was way too loud, they rolled down the window and held the cell phone out the window it was quite loud and sounded like Jap tuner car. Their biggest complaint was the reduction in fuel mileage. They told me they saw a reduction of about 9 MPG "OUCH". He had it taken off the next day and an IMCO muffler installed, they got their mileage back and then some, they said they picked at least a couple MPG over the stock muffler. I think I'm going put an IMCO muffler on Mine.

I'm having trouble believing this second-hand 'review'. First, as those who have ordered the real CGS system could tell you, they have held back shipping the new exhaust until this week. And if you did hear an exhaust system via a cell phone held out the window, how could you tell how loud it was or accurately tell anything about the tone? Also, if the system were on as you seem to have implied for only one day, how could anyone properly measure a 9 mpg decrease? Something is not adding up here.

I have to agree... Seems a bit fishy. I don't know how you could even tell that. Did he drive all night long, then buy an IMCO in the next state and have it put on.

I'm calling shinanagans.

Just tell you what I now. I can tell you as loud the exhaust was over the cell phone with the car stop along side road and phone out the drivers window it was way too loud for me. If I want loud I'd just ride a Harley with straight pipes.
