Changing side curtain roof air bags

How hard is it to change the roof side curtain air bags and the clock spring in my 2009 HHR? Is there a good source for used parts?

You’ll also need to replace the airbag control module and have it programmed. If the airbags deployed, then so did the seat belt retainer(s). Those will need to be replaced.
Repairing the SRS system after a deploy event is not a simple fix. Not a repair for the amateur and if you have to ask it may be beyond your ability.
Donbrew will probably give an answer here. He has 1st hand experience at this on a HHR.

It is close to illegal to sell used air bags and unadvisable to use them. Clockspring should be new.
?Neither is difficult. Clockspring is a bit tricky. You are supposed to replace the entire headliner with the airbags, it is probably bent out of shape, I didn't.
You will also need to replace the SDM (airbag brain) and whatever impact sensor triggered the airbags, they are one and done. The rollover sensor, the lateral acceleration sensor, the side impact sensor and the fron impact sensopr You can have the SDM reset, or get one that has been reset; GM will not do it, another borderline illegal thing.
If the airbags deployed the front seatbelts should have deployed, they can be rearmed by the owner, but it is easier to replace them with new.

They don't use gunpowder anymore, pulling the fuse and waiting for 30 minutes makes it safe.

2009 HHR Air Bag Sensors Location

Where are the SIDE air bag impact sensor's located? I usually find them in the B posts on many cars. Are these under the front kick panels? I did find the air bag module under the console area, but still searching for the SIDE air bag impact sensor's. I am assuming two sensor's on this car (or is there more)? Nothing in the dash area blew. Thanks in advance.

Also once the HHR has been T-boned, do I also need to change these sensor's when repairing car? I would assume so. Module has already been cleared of any codes, and new side air bag curtains installed.

Is this a follow up to your other thread about airbags ? You didn’t respond back to that thread.

Best to keep it in 1 thread and not post multiple ones about the same thing.
There we’re several helpful responses in your 1st thread.

Not as far as I know. I did not realize I already had a thread on this. Checking under my posts, I only see this one in regards to this question. I did have another question on the side air curtains, but I was not asking about side impact air bag sensors and their locations in that one. If what you are saying is try to keep all questions in regards to any of the air bag or their sensors all in one thread, than I understand that. Please advise me if that is incorrect. Thanks.
